The Stars & Stripes Independence Day Parade is where Downtown San Antonio’s modern Fourth of July celebration began.

2026 Grand Marshal Spotlight
Rear Admiral A.B. Cruz III, USN (Ret.) was named the inaugural Grand Marshal of the Stars & Stripes Independence Day Parade in 2026.
A San Antonio native and retired U.S. Navy Rear Admiral, Cruz led the historic parade as Downtown San Antonio celebrated America’s 250th birthday in the heart of Military City, USA.
With decades of military service, deep San Antonio roots, and a continued commitment to community leadership, Rear Adm. Cruz brought a distinguished legacy of service to this milestone celebration.
